About Me

Hello! I'm Helen, a qualified independent, professional celebrant. I trained with the Fellowship of Professional Celebrants (FPC) which is the largest organisation of independent celebrants in the UK and Europe. I am married to Oliver and we have two grown-up children, Henry & Betsy. We're all based in beautiful rural Norfolk. My journey towards becoming a celebrant stems, I think, from when I was a very little girl and enjoyed writing adventure stories about my classmates, and presenting them with handwritten and illustrated, personalised "novels"! Whilst I suspect none of these priceless first editions are still in circulation, it very much embedded my love of stories and storytelling which has followed me throughout child and adulthood. I read French & German at university and loved living in both countries before settling in the UK with my husband. I worked as a librarian and a bookseller, but for most of my career have worked in schools as an advisor for young people. Getting to know pupils, their quirks, their ambitions, their motivations has been the essence of effectively helping them forge their own personal pathways, and continues my love of shaping stories around their "owners". 

My experiences around the world and meeting people from across diverse cultures has taught me so much about life, people, compassion and joy. I now create ceremonies that express all of those emotions: finding the right words for the right moment is an honour and thrill. I am not bound by scripts, templates or rigid traditions. Instead, I work with you to design a ceremony that truly reflects your personality, beliefs and the people who matter most. From laughter-filled celebrations (and sometimes funerals!) to quiet moments of reflection, I will ensure that your ceremony is thoughtfully written and professionally delivered with care and compassion.
